This coincides with the NBA leading the charge on cookie cutter practice boxes and moving to a wide open arena on game day.
Eh? Free throw shooting shouldn't be expected to improve... it's a hand/eye repetitive motion skill that has no significant justification for improvement over the years. If anything, longer athletes... which is what has happened in the NBA and collegiate basketball... should cause free throw percentages to drop. I do not consider your coincidence to have any relationship whatsoever, Turbine. Great free throw shooters are great whether they're in the perfect setting or in your driveway.

By that reasoning NFL kicking percentages should not have reached all-time highs in recent years.

Where you practice in basketball makes a difference.

We almost got Shawn Long out of high school and we did get him as a transfer because one of our assistants is from his town and had a good relationship with Shawn and his family.

I'm not sure when his son was born.

The only questions that need to be answered in college basketball are
do you have enough guards, and can they shoot the rock?

No... there is no comparison to facility differences in football that are massive contributors to kickers... for football... over basketball facilities. Indoor stadiums and artificial turf is massively helpful to kickers. Close stadiums that eliminate the elements of rain, snow and wind? Artificial turf that eliminate snap and hold... and especically setting the plant leg on dry turf... HUGE difference over the years for place kickers.

But we didn't get him and if he didn't want to come home we never get him...Marlin didn't pull some Jedi mind trick

Poor shooters have bad depth perception no matter where they are, that's why they are bad shooters.
Shooting percentages go down when the final Four is held in Super Arenas'.

Did they forget how to shoot?

Some of these F4 teams come from sizable arenas of their own. Some get to practice in their own arena.

There is a depth perception problem going from arena to super arena.

Why would you discount or dismiss a change in perception when going from a matchbox to an arena?

Or maybe nerves? Or the fact the other team plays defense harder than they have all year. Your theory is extremely flawed, again how much ball did you play and in what types of arenas? I dismiss it because I've done it.

I almost got struck by lightning... but I didn't. I try to have a good relationship with the Guy that makes lightning. His son wasn't actually born on 12/25/0000... but pretty close.

I actually think when Marlin and his guards were using the Cajundome versus the practice court as an excuse... the excuse has more to do with nerves. There are all kinds of "practice pros" that can't do it in front of a big crowd. If our guards were actually better shooters "in practice"... it had more to do with stage fright than the facility. And every team has to figure that out.
