Check out another story from the Daily Advertiser, which first reported this news Sunday night, about Spikes in Tuesday's print and online editions with even more answers about his background.

I had a good feeling that we would end up with that BCS caliber running back we had been hearing about. Great addition to our 2010 class!
This was a very unexpected move given that Spikes decided to visit Utah instead of UL this weekend. He spoke with the Cajuns after returning from his trip on Sunday and decided to commit.
In the end, Spikes said that he felt more comfortable with offensive coordinator Ron Hudson - his primary recruiter - and head coach Rickey Bustle than his other options.
Spikes said that he also had offers from Utah and UNLV and strong interest from Kansas State and Purdue.
Nice pickup. Hope he can help you.
This is an exciting addition to the verbal commits, as long as he signs and makes it to the field. Between he and R. Walker, one of them hopefully can gives us that threat that we sorely need on Offense.
Streeter, Walker and Spikes are all talented. Should be interesting to see how the process plays out.
Yep, Walker is the only recruit that is secured. Streeter and Spikes still need to sign - and both have said they would, although nothing is official until a national letter of intent is signed.
Like I said, it will be interesting to see how the process works out.
