The gage near lake Martin is on the NAVD88 datum. The Surrey Street gage is 2.74 feet higher than the NAVD88 datum so the readings won't correlate unless you know this. Currently the gage reading at Surrey is 14.24 NAVD88 (16.98 gage reference) so your readings of 14.99 yesterday should be fairly accurate.
Surrey street is down to 16.8 this morning. Coming down about 0.2 a day.
Not showing this to bring up BOP--just giving USA a shout-out!!
Many people have described the Aug. 13 flood as surprising because it occurred in areas that had not flooded before.
But for others the flooding was a familiar sight.
Keith Lafleur, who lives on Stanford Road in Eunice, said the water got up to top of his mobile home’s skirting.
My neighbors 2 houses down from me can tell you that the process with claiming on flood insurance is a nightmare. They got about a foot of water in their house in May. It took over 6 weeks to get their money. About 8 weeks to get started on the major renovation. (they gutted the house themselves).
The week that the flood waters came a little over a week ago, they were finally putting down the new floors in their house. Luckily this time, they were spared from damage. Look for this to be at least a 3-5 month process depending on how much damage. Good Luck!
Pretty nice of their AD to post on Twitter accumulating supplies to bring us.

It would be SO classy for the UL fans to give a standing O for South AL before the game starts. Would love to see that. After K/O, then we could revert back to usual UL-USA relations!
OK--no joke we have had some very bad times recently---- the unreal job depression of the area, and the recent flood that has so many of us water logged.
We always talk about the Cajun culture and how we come together as we have done so many times in the past.
Well now is the perfect time to rally and we can come together in a magnificent way by packing Cajun Field for our Boise State game.
We need for the administration, ticket people, RCAF, and all fans to think of this as a way to show the country CAJUN PRIDE.
Pack the stadium and have signs and whatever to push this into being a great event.
And you guys say????
Let's have recommendations for a letter to the editor go out to all the papers and other media (TV, radio, etc)
We will need special ticket ideas along with other promotions.
---and our designated writer will be??? please volunteer and give us an example---"The Cajun people have long fought adversity from their very start to their various trials through the years---and yes they have ALWAYS responded and responded with overwhelming results---On September 3, 2016 one of the top teams in the country visit Lafayette and the Louisiana Cajuns are up for the Challenge---ARE YOU ACADIANA---ARE YOU READY TO SUPPORT YOUR UNIVERSITY"
