The August Flood of 2016

There are several reasons for this to be the case. One is they may not be able to have adequate staff (teachers, administrators etc) to run the school. Another is they may not be able to run School buses in areas that may be flooded. Another is they may not have adequate utility service to the school (Water/Sewer etc).

Wait--to open or not to open---which is excessive??? I remember the days at Jesuit---the tv would post all public and Private schools are closed except Jesuit High School----crazy times!!!

My son is heading back in from Destin. Took I10 to Slidell down to NO, I610 through to meet up with I10 again. Got off at Boutte exit I310. Taking 90 all the way to Ambassador Caffery. They will make it home in under 7 hours. All roads open. Avoid BR at all costs. Rain or shine.

This is the route I take all the time now.

The only reason I got to Baton Rouge now is if I have to for my job.

LPSS schools reopen August 22.

My daughter teaches at Broadmoor Elementary here in Lafayette. They are closed all week, not because of damage to the school, but because too many of the teachers will struggle to make it to school due to their homes being flooded and/or damaged!!!!!

I have 1 at Broadmoor, 1 at Edgar Martin, and 1 at Lafayette High. LPSS needs to take every second they need before reopening the schools. Its hasically delaying opening day a week since the year had just started.

basically if you have any water you really need consult a disaster specialist. Remember that a couple of inches of water can soak a few feet up your sheetrock, also if water reaches your plugs that the insulation will absorb water and will be wet much further up the wiring than you think. Also it only takes a day or two for mold to start in a closed up house so invest in some masks of some sort.

Yeah, me too. All things being equal, it might take 30 minutes more on 90, but they are never equal. That Basin Bridge and Baton Rouge are always F'd up
