I love reading Phil Steele...actually pre-order his mags before they hit the stands, so yes I knew this already.
Point was that he came on a national radio broadcast, not 1420, and talked briefly about the Cajuns being on the Top 3 most improved with Texas and Nebraska.
Rickey Bustle got less pub than Bickey Rustle.....we stunk to 5hit and were a laughing stock even with Bustles adrenaline shot to our program
He looked at recruiting classes over the past few years based on his system
Strength of schedule
How many games a team "should've / could've" won
Incoming transfers, recruits
Coaching staffs still in tact
This was his "short list" of most improved teams.
Cajuns would've never sniffed a page in that magazine before the 300's a few years back. When your team starts showing up in other magazine articles, you're making a name for yourself. When starting units are being named in the top 25 or players being on watch lists, or coaches being on watch lists, you're making a name for your university. It's all about the Ragin Cajun name being relevant. People know who we are. We were nobody for a long time. I don't know how many listeners Rome has, but "X" amount heard our name out of Phil Steele's mouth today as TOP 3 MOST IMPROVED.

Those are just examples in this years magazine. When people read it and see Louisiana Ragin Cajuns throughout the magazine, they start to get an idea of who we are. Years ago, you had to scroll wayyyyyy to the back of the magazine in the Sun Belt section pages 300-315 to catch a two page team breakdown.
