Hud isn't losing his job anytime soon. If Marlin gets an extension, Hud should be able to coast at 4 wins a year until 2020 before he needs to start sweating. A QB transfer isn't going to help, because he isn't an offensive lineman which is where we are going to get brutally, and ritualistically murdered by teams we shouldn't be getting murdered by. The energy is already gone. We all know Hud is more bark than bite. The last time I felt a season like this...was 2010. But Bustle didn't have 4 9-4 years under his belt. You use the down times to plan ahead, you don't try and patch up the holes and scratch out 6-6.

From what I've seen of Dion Ray is the next possible coming of Brian Mitchell. An all around athlete with a nose for the big play. Hud is thinking like you, 6-6. He isn't thinking long term. He doesn't see the upside, during the down side.

The most important piece to the football puzzle is usually that QB spot. It's the "head" of the "body".

Rebuilding years usually revolve around losing a strong QB and trying to plug and play on the go.

I hate to do this, but just reference La Tech. They get a few highly touted transfers (Sokol and Driskel) and produce a few 9 win seasons in a row. That Band-Aid works as a bridge until you find a gem in recruiting and those are hard to come by here at UL.

A transfer finally put us back on the map if you remember correctly. WIN NOW

QB's on their backs don't help. QB's running for their lives don't help. Kill the body and the head will die. With no body...the head is a soccer ball.

La Tech is no better off because of their band aids. Their project QB just got popped for drunk driving, and is still undeveloped because transfers took his reps for two straight years. They don't have a gem at QB to take over. How are you supposed to recruit QB's, when all you do is hand reps to 5th year grad transfers? It's a Catch 22 scenario.

    What transfer is that?

Yeah exactly so HUD would be shoe horning a RB as a QB. If jalen Nixon was given a free year as a redshirt freshman... He would be just as capable and dynamic as Diom Ray if not more. Haack,Nixon,weaver...then Davis,weaver,Nixon...then Jennings,Davis,weaver,Nixon...now Jennings,Davis,Nixon....there is a reason his name is never even mentioned. We have had 5 QB's in 2 years and 2 left and he can't even get a name drop? And it's not like haack...the kid is exactly what hud looks for in his QB's.

Ill take a more talented QB with the same bad o-line though. I get that its mostly wasted if the QB is running for his life.

I could care less what is written at this point about "the QB race". Nixon is competing... and that is all there is to that. Let him compete.

I absolutely disagree when people make the comment that when you don't have a clear #1 QB, you don't have a great QB. You can have 2... or even 3 great QBs in the QB stable. The only problem with last year was that we had one very odd QB (when looking at what Hud wants his QB capable of doing). Hud should have been honest with Brook and himself... and let Brook leave sooner.

I like this QB race. I wouldn't like it if Hud doesn't choose the best of the 3 and go with him as "the #1". But I think Hud is going to choose a #1... I think I know who that's going to be... and we're going to stick with our #1 until he either gets hurt or completely screws up.

They keep mentioning Nixon because he is in play here. He will be in the wildcat on special packages.

Chillax guys...Coach speak this time is more for competition than anything. Media will spin it and make it look similar to last year......NOT THE CASE
    Agree.
