Drives me nuts that Hudspeth and anyone else ever brings this up as in its some sort of a justification for his ridiculous amount of ham chances to play QB.
It was in a loss too...a bad loss not a close one...a loss his mistakes were a big part of. He got most of his rushing on one busted play and most of the stats against the scout team because we were down by almost 30. Why people keep bringing this up baffles me.

It's all coach speak...if Hud says 3 man, he does so to push the other two (AJ and JD)...Nixon has to get his reps in to stay sharp, for now. Hud's too smart of a coach to repeat last years mistake. I do it all the time as a manager to motivate. Sooner or later, the top guys get the message and respond.

    My spin:

There is no "qb battle." They are trying to get every ounce of effort out of Davis to keep him "game ready" if and when needed due to injuries, blowouts, prep for next year, etc. and they are keeping Jennings humble and making him eat the playbook every night thinking "what if" I don't get my head wrapped around this playbook in time for the start of the season?? They keep mentioning Nixon because he is in play here. He will be in the wildcat on special packages.

Chillax guys...Coach speak this time is more for competition than anything. Media will spin it and make it look similar to last year......NOT THE CASE

For a coach to bring it up repeatedly is even more baffling..

It's like a new fan that has no idea what they're watching.. They just cheer when the ball is snapped..

The context of that game is very important to the comment about the 200 pass/throw stat.

This is what I'm thinking as well. I see Hud naming Jennings the starter later this month. That being said I just hope they stick with him even if he makes a few mistakes early..this team is going to need a consistent QB this year.

I think you hit it exactly. My question is "Whats up with Dion Ray?".

Thats the biggest thing that I took from all that. And with our history of QB injuries, the 3rd spot as well.

Dion Ray will be in this article next year when the battle is between Jordan Davis, Ray, and probably a player to be named later. He will be given every chance to compete here because that's why he signed here over number P5 schools. He didn't want to play defense and we said that he'd have a legitimate shot at QB. He'll be a Soph. next year and I think he's got just as good of a chance as Davis to take the reigns. He's 6-0 200lbs which isn't that bad, he'll probably add a few more pounds to that frame.

If he gets beat out again next year, I see him transferring unfortunately. He's WAY TOO GOOD of an athlete to not play in some capacity.

We can't even pick a QB now, and we just got a transfer in from LSU. Why waste time waiting until next year, give the job to Dion Ray and let him develop over 4 years.

    That's how coaches get fired

This! I wouldn't read too much into these comments right now. If Nixon is running the first team in the last scrimmage this fall, then we have a problem.
