I could see a scenario where he doesn't play but let's hope he does.

He's been cleared but with Hud who knows. I've always scratched my head at the depth charts he releases. Interesting thing yesterday was that we look to be starting 6 Db's and going with a 3-2-6 alignment. I am curious about this. It will be interesting watching a bunch of 170 pounds DB's rushing the QB from the outside meeting up with some beefy OL.

I think if it gets away from us quickly you could maybe see them rest Riles' ankle another week which I would be fine with. They basically are just calling Walker's position a DB so technically it's a 3-3-5. I think you will see it swing from LB/DB in that spot depending on match ups and situations.

It was the same talk last year...and we did see a different offense...a worse version of the offense. So they have to over come the stigma of ____ing the dog last year, before they get the benefit of the doubt. When you realize it was more Hud pushing his offensive mindset, one cannot help but to think they are going to stub their toe, and come out looking similar, or worse than last year.

I know. It's not lost on me. I'm optimistic, not kool-aide drunk.

Hud gave a great interview this morning with Dave. When asked how he has improved as a coach over his 5 years here, Hud said he's struggled with delegation of duties. (Which we've been saying for 3 years). He acknowledged it and said he's making it a priority this year to let his staff do the job that they were hired to do.

I thought it was very interesting.

But that's what everyone wanted to hear. And instead of hiring a real offensive coordinator to come in and run the offense, he promoted from within (presumably to remove the friction Hud thought there was with Jay Johnson to running Hud's system), and hired an offensive mind in Desormeaux, but one that isn't ready to run an FBS offense yet. That doesn't scream to me that he has learned his lesson. It seems he is ankle deep in the same ____ he stepped in last year.

I wouldn't say Munoz is a typical hire from within, he was a holdover from the previous staff which is rare and to me, speaks volumes of the kind of coach Munoz is. He also now has the 2 of the main guys on staff responsible for the schools most prolific offense in school history. If HUD is gonna do what you say then does it even matter who he hired?

I'm comfortable giving him the benefit of the doubt right now. Dez was a homerun hire, no matter how you slice it. Munoz maybe wasn't an exciting hire, but I don't see it as a "make due" hire. I've always heard good things about Munoz and I like his attitude, personally. No bull____ with him.

Just the fact that Hudspeth acknowledged his short comings in public, says he's self aware, and that's at least a step in the right direction.

Cleared to play means he is medically okay. How much practice has he had? I would think he is practicing this week for sure, so I would think he could see some limited snaps. Conditioning, and chemistry will dictate how many.

He is cleared to practice and this week will be his first, if we blink and are down 21, I have no problem with giving that ankle another week. He is much more important for the next 11 games than this one.

But it also likely doesn't mean that he is 100% and if the game is not where we want it, they may choose to sit him out to get him healthier for the goat bangers the following week. I think that's what he's saying.

Dez will be a homerun hire...in 3-4 years when hopefully he becomes our head coach. Has anyone seen anything in practice to make you think Dez has the slightest bit of input into the offense? Munoz is a patsy, no other way to put it. For a team that struggled that bad on offense the year before...no way you promote from within. That's like finding a ship that sunk, dragging it up, fixing it, and putting one of the crew members as the new First Mate (my ship jargon sucks...). Nothing will get fixed.

Airing his shortcomings in public is nothing new, he did that last year, and many times before. He never fixed those problems though.

I dig the optimism...I just can't hop on that bandwagon. I want to see dollars to donuts. Practice won't cut the mustard. We've been sold that bill of goods too many times already. On the field. Only way to show me it's different this time. No better test than Boise. No matter how much we run down Harsin for what he did at a completely different school...Boise the program is always a team that comes out looking for the kill.
