Yeah, when you're a threat to run the ball those cornerbacks and safeties tend to creep up closer into the box for containment. No more turning your back to the ball and knowing that the QB will just throw it away under pressure. Over the top will be open (maybe not game one), but a lot of deep balls will come. I think his running ability will be the key to the Boise game. If you MAKE them respect your legs, then you hit'em with quick slants, play actions......

Might I also add, we've left WAAAY too many deep balls on the table over the last few years. Jennings throws and excellent deep ball. He and J Johnson could be lethal.

I'm telling you....he will look like a playstation QB here if used right. A play breaks down, he goes and gets you 15 on a scramble. Roll him out and he'll hit the TIGHT END for 20 yards. Zone Read him and the defense collapses on Eli, he gives you the House Call. Zone Read him after the house call and Eli scampers for 70+ untouched.

If the offense is drawn correctly in the dirt, we will see an electric and high scoring team.

That's the scary part.

Hard to hit the side of a barn when you stick an "athlete" in a pro-style offense and make him stay in the pocket while SEC defenses are swarming around him. You get him in space (roll-outs, playactions, etc.) where he can make plays with his legs.

Crystal Ball Projections (If full season is played) - Our QB's tend to miss time every year.

Passing: 2800 yrds / 18 TD's
Rushing: 900 yrds / 10 TD's

Totals: 3700 yrds / 18 TD's


AJ is Gautier and Broadway morphed into one person. The difference is better mechanics, faster, bigger, & smarter.

So if gautier and Broadway had a baby it would be AJ?

I just read on their message board that they may be starting 6 freshman on the defensive side of the ball in game one. Man, if we get some confidence moving the chains early and we can generate some pressure to keep Rypien off balance......who knows????

They will have a lot of inexperience on the defensive side especially in the secondary...should see "up to 6" freshman getting PT at some point vs the Cajuns. Need to take advantage quickly with the deep ball.

The football players all know Jennings should be starter (which is good see Haack debate last year)

His release and decision making are heads and shoulders above any other QB on the team .

However players I talked to say Him and Davis athletic ability are on par
