FYI, here is a list of all the 50k AM radio stations in the US.

In its day, WWL had a radio program called the Charlie Dougles Road Gang which catered to the trucking industries late night drivers and accepted call in requests. You'd hear calls from all over the country, and if I'm not mistaken, had a coverage area over most of the continental US.
Additionally, I thought the local AM's at one time had the option to reduce power or go directional?
I'm glad you guys had this convo. I spent a lot of time in northern Colorado / Southern Wyoming and it sounded like I was catching WWL. Thought either my truck had the best antenna ever made or I was losing my mind!
Awh schit, y'all can understand what Bitter is saying? I just thought my AM antenna was messing with my station like it always does. Sounds like he always has a mouth full of extra crunchy peanut butter.....
I was a Beaker Street fan which originated in Little Rock AR on 50000 watt AM station KAAY. I'm pretty sure that station was also my first experience with Dr Demento.
