My source says that 1420's days are numbered (except for the cheap part.) AM Radio is the equivalent of a pay phone. Nobody uses it anymore, if you have to use it, you must be within the booth to hear it, and it's cheap.

With sister stations on FM radio they also do not have to worry about the FCC nightly broadcasting rules for AM stations. Also, with apps like radio pup they can continue to broadcast for cheap on AM while simulcasting all around the world (which will eventually be how everyone listens to radio.)

I'd bet that with the younger folks most of the sports & music listening comes from an internet stream. Although us old folks don't always understand or like it, that's the way entertainment is going in the future. We need to stay on the front of this technology. I think we can produce this content in house as was stated in the report and make it a asset to our sports fans and our radio & television broadcasting program.

I am not disagreeing with this, my point was not about the quality of the content it was merely in regards to the whole AM/FM industry issue.

I agree with you on the talk radio part because it's not important but our nationally ranked baseball team should never only be broadcasted on AM...one that barely gets out of the parish. All the major sports should be required to be broadcasted on FM.

I couldn't be more right. It's build for talk radio?? When, the 1970's??? Go ahead and scroll through your radio dial....see if you can catch 5 stations. Out of those 5, you might be able to hear one clearly. That one will fade in and out into some type of Mexican music or you'll get interference from supermaket's electronic doors.

Good point. Although most night games are broadcast on FM sister stations due to FCC rules, day games and football games are still on AM for the most part. I think this will be moot point however in 10 years as most folk will be streaming.

10 years is a long time... I have listened to a lot more night games on 1420 than 96.5
