I mean, truly, how much of our young receivers have you truly seen in games that tells you they are above average athletes for the position?
How many have you seen that tells you they aren't? Of jacquet,Bradley,Jackson,Christie? You don't think Haynes can get behind a defense? We have playmakers..somebody has to get them the ball.

Same as you I guess. However, I'm going by what has been shown on the field and it aint much. Just not sure how you can say your argument is stronger based on the unknown of all these players.

Lawson, Surgent, Green and Peoples would have looked bad last year as well. The offense from tip to tail sucked. And as for your deep threat, Eli was a deep threat before last year. We only saw Robinson doing jump balls last year. Nixon couldn't hit the man 5 yards away. And Haack was never set up to succeed. The route running and play sequences sucked. You can't just wipe that from the situation and grade the WRs. I think Christie, if he's healthy, will add to the WR group. He's a serious athlete. And don't count out the other guys on the roster. They are each to a man serious athletes. I'm going by an expectation that our OL will be serviceable, our coaches aren't retarded, and our starting QB will be allowed to function. And yes, I think our best offensive assets are the pass receivers. I don't think our coaches shifted due to their recognition of a lack of playmaker last year. They didn't have the running game with a Zo/Eli combo. Their only playmakers were receivers (including Eli). They copped out on the skills they had for the plays they preferred. And they sucked as coaches. That's the great news. A cage of monkeys could have coached the offense better. I believe no one on this staff liked being a monkey or being in a cage last year. We'll see. But the only chance we have is if this staff attacks through the air... and creates some running lanes for doing so. That didn't happen last year... but it was not because it couldn't have.

So the unknown must suck because that's your opinion and that's the one that matters. Our offense sucked last year...all around. Look what it did to Eli...but it didn't effect the WR's...all 10 of them just suck I guess

He's just requiring evidence to support the supposition. There isn't any clear evidence from our recent past that we have anything but Eli offensively. That's a fact. It requires we look at the fact the formula was all wrong last year. Does that guarantee it won't be this year? We hope not. But I feel massively strong about the coaching hose that was put to the offense last year. And if the coaches use one sliver of sense to the approach with the athletes we've got... and decide to confuse coverages... we'll kick butt using the fine WR group we've got.

We need that Elijah/Zo combo for Elijah to get those breakout runs. We didn't have that last year since our heavy bruiser running back was trying to play quarterback.

This is too funny. You are basing more of your opinion on the unknown but arguing against it.

I know our offense, offensive line and QB play all sucked...our all American RB looked pedestrian so I'm basing my opinion that chances are not every single one of our D1 receivers suck...that our offense sucked. When we have good WR play this year what will you think have happened? They bought talent at the store? Since you know they all suck?

Again, you overstate so much to make your point. When did I say they suck? This whole debate started from me mentioning that they didn't have a ton of talent in relation to the rest of the SBC and did not get separation from DB's. Our RAC, Pass yards per play and overall passing numbers were all down the last two years and I could physically see that our receivers had a tough time getting space from defensive backs to make catches and extend plays. I did not say they sucked. I said they were not game changers like previous sets of receivers we've had.

BTW, what will you call "good" WR play? I just need to know. Based on recent arguments, their lack of production did not stem from lack of talent, it stemmed from everything else from bad coaching to Scott Farmer. Therefore, I'd assume if you see some really good production there, we would have to attribute it to coaching right?

Yeah it will be coaching, because there is talent at the WR position. Robinson gone, Haynes or Scott don't have any issues seperating from DB's but somebody has to get them the ball.the past 2 years we had a QB with a limp wrist and basically didn't have a QB last year. If we don't get better QB play and better line play our WR will look bad...if we get QB and line play they will look good...but they are same people in both instances. We didn't have a QB standing back there for 5, 6 seconds looking around for WR's that weren't open...we have plenty of talent at the WR position. I go watch practice and have seen the other receivers.

Dude, I have seen us go to Scott time and time again on deep balls with no separation and no big plays. Outside of this, I hope they are able to string something together this year and move the chains. We are going to have to spread it around a lot as I'm not sure we have that go to guy so it will have to be a committee approach. Hopefully the TE's are involved along the seams more and things open up.

That has a lot to do with coaching, predictable and I creative play calling...Scott is rarely in the game, when he is we go deep...hello...doesn't take a genius to see that. There aren't a whole lot of DB's that are as fast as him but if they know exactly what we are doing..they aren't gonna let him get behind them. I'll stick by what I said the very first time I responded...we have plenty of talent at the WR position.
