You arent going over the top of any defense if your QB has about 1.3 seconds to throw the ball, run the ball or get smashed. No matter if you have the best WR's in the nation

Line was not good. That's not a secret. However, Not every single play was dictated by quarterback pressure or hurries. However, I don't remember any plays where we were successful going over the top. Hell, even the catches we did make in the middle of the field had very little RAC which is where athletes really make their impact.
I mean, truly, how much of our young receivers have you truly seen in games that tells you they are above average athletes for the position?
Lawson, Surgent, Green and Peoples would have looked bad last year as well. The offense from tip to tail sucked. And as for your deep threat, Eli was a deep threat before last year. We only saw Robinson doing jump balls last year. Nixon couldn't hit the man 5 yards away. And Haack was never set up to succeed. The route running and play sequences sucked. You can't just wipe that from the situation and grade the WRs. I think Christie, if he's healthy, will add to the WR group. He's a serious athlete. And don't count out the other guys on the roster. They are each to a man serious athletes. I'm going by an expectation that our OL will be serviceable, our coaches aren't retarded, and our starting QB will be allowed to function. And yes, I think our best offensive assets are the pass receivers. I don't think our coaches shifted due to their recognition of a lack of playmaker last year. They didn't have the running game with a Zo/Eli combo. Their only playmakers were receivers (including Eli). They copped out on the skills they had for the plays they preferred. And they sucked as coaches. That's the great news. A cage of monkeys could have coached the offense better. I believe no one on this staff liked being a monkey or being in a cage last year. We'll see. But the only chance we have is if this staff attacks through the air... and creates some running lanes for doing so. That didn't happen last year... but it was not because it couldn't have.
He's just requiring evidence to support the supposition. There isn't any clear evidence from our recent past that we have anything but Eli offensively. That's a fact. It requires we look at the fact the formula was all wrong last year. Does that guarantee it won't be this year? We hope not. But I feel massively strong about the coaching hose that was put to the offense last year. And if the coaches use one sliver of sense to the approach with the athletes we've got... and decide to confuse coverages... we'll kick butt using the fine WR group we've got.
We need that Elijah/Zo combo for Elijah to get those breakout runs. We didn't have that last year since our heavy bruiser running back was trying to play quarterback.
I know our offense, offensive line and QB play all sucked...our all American RB looked pedestrian so I'm basing my opinion that chances are not every single one of our D1 receivers suck...that our offense sucked. When we have good WR play this year what will you think have happened? They bought talent at the store? Since you know they all suck?
