We talk about this all the time. It's the private sector mentality (usually your bulldogs, business owners, boot strap guys) vs. your government mentality (public payroll, things will work themselves out, no hurry).

It's also why societies that crush agitators eventually fail (think USSR). The agitation and turmoil creates much needed restoration. It's also why the current PC phenomenon is so damaging to our society. You can't muzzle dissent or opinion and think it will help.

So, semamtics or whatever excuse is being used aside, is it my understanding that the actual cost of the stadium went up by $7M since Farmer last checked?? Is that what we're supposed to believe? That's some crazy inflation!

I'm so confused. Wake me up in August or better yet, 2018. I can't handle the truth OR the fiction.

Edit: Wake me up if we make the CWS, Final 4, or the Sugar Bowl next year.

Agree. I would also think, in the current business environment, that banks are knocking down Dr Savoie's door to LEND us money. Rates may never be lower than they are right now and I imagine we are a decent credit risk.

What was the local campaign slogan 12 years ago, run LCG "like a business". Well, that never happened.

What is so ironic, I have friends that beatch and moan about government waste, but yet, they play golf on company time, go on big hunting trips on company time, drive their company vehicle to bars and casinos. All in the name of "business". Many in oil and gas, and banking. If government was truly ran "like a business", the masses would really be up in arms. This is just a general observation, not an excuse for this summer's bloodletting.

Just remember the cycle...a person runs for office, they win. There are "professional services"...accounting, legal, engineers, etc. They contributed to the winner. Who gets the professional service contracts? And the cycle starts all over again in 4 years. Every level of government.

Really don't want to get too involved in this discussion but I think something needs clearing up. The 17-18 million dollar number being batted around is for all the Tigue renovations. That includes a new clubhouse/locker room along with indoor hitting/pitching and a few other things.

The scope of work about to start which is a new grandstand and the platforms behind the existing bleachers is a little over 12 million.

Makes sense. It was surprising that the cost zoomed upward from what was out there to 17+ million...I guess its go big or go home time.

Hud and Lotief are still here and the APC turned out great and RCAF was born and growing. The end results are ok, its how we got there that's the main issue?

We've succeeded in spite of him. What would/could we be doing if we had a great AD in place? How would they have capitalized from our athletic department being white-hot in the middle of a 4-bowl win streak instead of being dragged kicking and screaming into growth? Yes, it matters how we got there. This baseball construction is yet another example. We're going to pay more for the stadium because we had to take out a loan instead of somebody busting hump over the past couple years to get money in hand. In the end, we get the stadium either way. One's going to cost us interest and is shrouded in mishandling of people and events, costing us potential future donations because they got lied to on this one. It matters how we got to the finish line.

I've always used those numbers since the last schematics were approved with the locker rooms and brick facade included. Coach Robichaux said if the money could be raised, than they would do it because the base of the platforms were going through the locker rooms. Clearly that is not going to be the case. The little over 12 million sounds right because the cost increased from 10 million to around 13 million with the cost of the brick facade.
