Turb, the fossil pulled the recruiting funds away from Stoke. He couldn't do a darned thing. The guy was nails. Sadly the fossil was afraid of success.

Not saying he didn't get recruits at UNT. But the recruiting at LSU for years now has been through the efforts of Collis Temple. I hold the head coach responsible for the complete outcome. If a head coach turns over every aspect of the program over to other people, is only a figurehead, but succeeds... he's a successful head coach. By the same token, if something, anything, isn't producing success... the head coach is at fault. Time usually clues interested fans into the strengths and weaknesses of certain head coaches. I think this forum has fairly accurately identified Marlin's strengths and weaknesses. He needs to build complete teams. And I think his overall ability to recruit (or get someone who can) and sustain a cohesive team, has been lacking. The high and low points are balancing out to mediocre. My belief is that it shouldn't be that difficult to build a great starting 5, well balanced team, at UL.

Jones is either a great recruiter or he recruits great recruiters. He is, perhaps, one of the worst in-game coaches I have seen at a high level program. He may be a great practice coach, but his in game decisions are just baffling. Sort of like Marlin's momentum killing timeouts. Baffling.

Marlin likes to call time outs after his teams done some good things in a run. Someone told he does it as a strategic move. While he's encouraging his team the other teams coach is tareing them a new azz.

I figured there was a rational behind the timeouts but the results don't typically pan out in a positive manner. Usually the opposing coach implements a strategy to counter the Cajuns momentum.

Oh, I wasn't challenging you on the subject. I could never rationalize his decision, in regard to his timeouts. Now I at least know what's his line of reasoning.

So what are your thoughts on the impact of the rs freshmans and transfer kids for next year?

I'm thinking UL will beat most expectations but still fall short of a successful season. If Marlin can land Griffin from OK St then the 2017-18 season can pretty exciting.

I'm done with coach Marlin. IMO he'll end up in the top five SBC. That's pretty low on a national scale.
