So...we go from failing miserably with a running back at QB...to transferring in another running back who was forced into being a QB elsewhere. Neat.

What do we currently have at QB to face Boise State? I doubt it's any more of a daunting task for Jennings than it is for our current QBs. I have seen Jennings play... and there's a lot of question marks. But, he was recruited by LSU... who pretty much should have the pick of the litter. And to have watched LSU's horrendously unimaginative offense... you just about cannot blame the skill players. I think Jennings abilities match up better with our offense. I also think playing for us takes a huge burden he carried at LSU off his shoulders. You just never know how that may click on the field. He has to earn what he's assigned to do for us. I'm all about waiting and seeing how this plays out.
You think those teams intimidate Jennings? Or Davis? This guy played on the biggest of all stages in college football. He played on a field with a 100k of his own fans rooting against him... I think he will be fine... Certainly worth giving him an opportunity before we go all tigah fan on the kid... He isn't even here yet. I'd say Hud's track record of bringing in 4 star QB's transfers is pretty good right now.
Schools miss on athletes all the time. Everybody in the country wanted Shepard to be their QB as he was a 5 star prospect with many high major offers. I don't understand the angst. If he's good enough to win the starting spot, then that means he's better than what we have right now and he's the our best shot of winning. If he doesn't, then we don't have to worry or he, at the very least, can add depth to the position that has little of it.
We are fishing in the same pond on him. However, i responded to your suggestion that somehow his ability is questioned since he was recruited by LSU who also recruited Shepard. Like someone said earlier, they and many other schools saw something in him during the recruiting process as many wanted him. Even if he is never what people once thought he could be, he may be the best option we have at this point and I'm willing to upgrade the position as it is amongst the weakest we have on the entire team, especially when you factor in depth. Its low risk and higher reward for us and I'm all about it.
Many programs run variations on what we run. And that's a good thing for athletes transfering in. We don't know if we can beat the majority of the SBC right now, MAT. And we do not have any standard created in recruiting, that I know of, that places us in a competitive position against a Boise State/Georgia. We're trying to get on the right side of .500 football. As for giving Boise State and Georgia a good game... I think that has a lot to do with how our coaches approach those games.
I'm sure Hud would have accepted the starting QB coming from one of the top 10 passing programs in the country... instead of Jennings... but I think most are unwilling at this point to do so. (Chuckling with you brother)
