We are fishing in the same pond on him. However, i responded to your suggestion that somehow his ability is questioned since he was recruited by LSU who also recruited Shepard. Like someone said earlier, they and many other schools saw something in him during the recruiting process as many wanted him. Even if he is never what people once thought he could be, he may be the best option we have at this point and I'm willing to upgrade the position as it is amongst the weakest we have on the entire team, especially when you factor in depth. Its low risk and higher reward for us and I'm all about it.

Many programs run variations on what we run. And that's a good thing for athletes transfering in. We don't know if we can beat the majority of the SBC right now, MAT. And we do not have any standard created in recruiting, that I know of, that places us in a competitive position against a Boise State/Georgia. We're trying to get on the right side of .500 football. As for giving Boise State and Georgia a good game... I think that has a lot to do with how our coaches approach those games.

I'm sure Hud would have accepted the starting QB coming from one of the top 10 passing programs in the country... instead of Jennings... but I think most are unwilling at this point to do so. (Chuckling with you brother)

I guess my thoughts came off more pessimistic than I intended. My purpose was to be more cautious about this. And, you have to think, what does this do to Davis' confidence? They must really not believe in him at this point. All offseason, as I've posted, I've heard how much Hudpseth liked Weaver. Even last year that was being said. Now we've invited another QB to campus. Idk, just concerns me. It's the most important position and we're shaking it up 8 weeks before kick off...

I agree...he didn't learn that failed throwing motion after he had that plate in his arm at Houston.

I've been able to do this remarkable thing where I've completely blocked out most of last season.. But the closer the season gets, the night terrors are setting in.. Flashbacks of pick 6's at the half, Eli up the middle, and blown coverages..

So you're saying we're not coming off a 9 win season and NOLA Bowl victory? The night terrors!!

Whether it works out or not we'll see but I'm more impressed that an LSU QB would transfer to UL that says a lot about our program. Either we are that weak or our pass winning is turning some heads. Until he gets here JD is our starter and it is what it is. But if he comes and learns the offense I feel that he is an upgrade and gives JD one more year to get ready or for us to develop a long term QB that's on the roster. Look at the ND QB that transferred to FState I didn't think it would work but it did. I hope he comes here because either he will push JD to be better or win the job. Its a win, win situation.

If this doesn't light a fire under Davis then he isn't your guy anyway. He needs to work like everyone is trying to take it from him. Our coaches need to coddle less IMO... You want the job? Go take it.

If we are worried about Davis' confidence because we bring in another QB when we have no depth there, then I'm more worried about Davis. I think that guys who are willing to lead their team and work hard would not necessarily be affected negatively by something like this. As far as Weaver goes, he's a true freshman and I just don't think its as common as people think to see a true freshman step in and be ready for everything they have to grasp. I'm all about giving him time to mature and grow and get comfortable in the offense. Doesn't mean he doesn't have talent but very few guys at this level come in with the poise to match the talent and lead right away. In other words, i just can't see how his addition hurts the team unless Jennings becomes some sort of cancer.

I'm of that line of thinking as well.. I always believe competition is the answer. But the athletes these days? They've all been coddled.

I have to disagree with you we invited Broadway when we still had Gauthier you could never have enough depth at QB. I like the decision.
