Pro Shawn Long

I’m in UAE this week and flipping through channels in the hotel. I go through about dozen channels in Arabic then see some basketball. It’s the NBL semi-finals from Australia and Shawn Long is leading all scorers as Melbourne United beat the Sydney Kings to tie the series 1-1. Long had 26 pts and 11 boards. He was dominate. You can tell he was having fun with some towering dunks and banging his chest. Talk about an unexpected thrill.

How cool was that!

If Shawn continues his success there the Cajuns will have two of the most decorated players in that league. Not sure if you know but one former Cajun by the name of Kevin Brooks played in the NBL in the late 90's and early 2000's. He was a two time champion of that league in 98 and 99. he was also Championship MVP in 1998 and was an All NBL 1st team in 1999.

After his playing days he went on to coach in the NBL. He averaged over 18 points per game and nearly 6.5 rebounds per game. For his career he shot 39% from 3 point land and around 45% from the field.

I would love to see Shawn in the NBA, but I guarantee you he is making a nice career for himself in the NBL.

Glad to see Shawn thriving. The Aussie announcers were very complimentary of him. Mostly because they were mentioning his name on basically every possession. Fun stuff to watch for sure.
