Robe is trying to salvage this donor. He may be successful, they're very tight. I can't tell you about others.
So am I understanding this correctly.
Russo committed $5 million ONCE a first $5 million was raised.
The first $5 million was raised. So Russo matched that with the SECOND $5 million.
Now someone (a close friend of Robe's) has WITHDRAWN his $2 million share of the original $5 million.
Is this it?
VO says, "Partly, but not entirely, by any means" is it the Russo donation.
But CC says it has nothing to do with Russo.
I hope you'll understand the confusion and (to be perfectly honest) the skepticism.
It is a bit confusing if someone has not read through the thread. I posted in the beginning of this thread as of Friday before last, there was approximately $3 million in collected funds in the RCAF account for the Tigue project. So that should answer your questions in regards to the Russo's donation. What other funds have been committed, had not been collected as of that date.
There is said to be a major donor that pulled his money from the project because he wanted specific things done in the stadium project with his donation and while not a problem with Coach Robichaux, he would not be done because RCAF does not have control over the funds. I haven't spoke to that donor, so I do not know the validity of that statement other then the name I received via email. At this point I see no reason to post his name because my understanding is that Coach Robichaux still believes he will get that donation and the donor is not talking to anyone but coach.
So to sum up this thread, the actual funds collected were sitting at $3 million Friday before last and not the 70% Farmer had stated to donors and Dr. Savoie. At this point, until the commitments can be collected there are several avenues in which to seek financial help to build the project by next summer. Another, requesting another fee from the UL System Board is completely off the table and will not happen in this political environment. Anyone else can add there comments.
Just thinking out loud here, is it possible that Farmer thought of the Russo donation as a 1:1 matching donation, rather than $5 million to $5 million donation. Reason being, if he had a $3 million or a little more in hand, he might have doubled it when telling people how much we had raised for the project. Then you're in the neighborhood of $7 million there.
Could be, but the actual amount of the project once Dr Savoie approved the brick façade is supposedly around $17 million. We were all told this during the presentation at the Diamond Club announcement. So even if you buy that explanation, $7 million is not 70% of the total cost of the project.
Jesus what a ____ show this is. Robe better get his stadium.
He will get his stadium. As it was proposed. Seems like most everyone is in agreement in that point....the issue is how it will be funded, and how SF has handled the whole thing.
This project, and Robe and the baseball program, has far too high a profile for it not to go through.
People keep saying that. Though the explanations are hazy on the alternative funding methods. What are they? Do we have 10 mill (or whatever) stashed away? Do we have the ability to borrow that much? Where do we think it will come from? We not including me because I clearly have no idea.
