7 to 1 Coastal in the 4th.....
Arizona went on the road, pooped their pants in their first game with us, then dominated us from the 1st inning when they absolutely had to. We never led in those two games. Not even close. Arizona was a more balanced and well-rounded team, by far compared us and every other team in the country, except maybe Coastal.
Arizona peaked in Laff. We peaked in conf tourney. Bottom line.
-----Hey winning 10-3 2 to 3 days before losing 2 is not really un-peaking----We dropped some fly balls and gave up the early runs that took away small ball---Not saying we were better but damn close to a team playing for the #1 spot in the country!!! Don't know bout you guys but I know we can recruit with that kind of record!!!
Arizona has swag for days, like we did in 2014. The have the best two way player I can remember, a slick infield and a solid line up.
Coastal has a great middle infield, swag for weeks, great pitching and an offense as good as our 2014 team. The two best teams peaked at the right time and rose to the top.
Geez, the ULMOST views on this board. Zona smoke us just like they've done to everyone else. The fantasy that but for Arizona we'd have been in the finals is lunacy.
I wasn't sure we would win 30, after the first 20. This team hosting was remarkable.
Yes it was. Ultimately the weaknesses got to us. Inconsistent third pitchers. Weak bats.
We need to find some offense, somewhere, anywhere, and get a lot slicker in the middle of the infield. The pitching would have looked better with BT, just like last year.
The game plan is to basically get through the pitching and do some damage late.
Look at pitches early with the goal of raising pitch counts and bang your way through the final innings.
In tourney play the game plan was use your pitchers wisely and have a deeper stable at the end.
That game plan was ill prepared for facing a coach that had no regard for his pitchers arms.
