[QUOTE=leeman;985642]I heard that the press box is going to be on the "third base" side. I've got a question. Do all stadiums put their press/announcers in that area? I was just wondering where would be the best viewpoint for an announcer to see the balls and strikes. I would have though right behind home plate? I'm guessing it might be better to view the pitches at an angle. just curious, thanks. Oh, and if anyone has any pics of the stadium from the game, that would be cool.[/QUOT
Announcers don't need to make the call, just announce what was called. I think putting the press box on the 3rd base side was brilliant.
One big plus, IMHO... It now feels like one stadium... In the past, the grandstand felt detached from the bleachers and vice versa. Now, the stadium has literally been brought together.
They are back at it this morning, it will be interesting to watch the progress the next week with the weather.
So, for all the visitors to the stadium, what were your thoughts? Even thou it is not completed.
Stating the obvious... Helmut correct. Already MUCH better than what we had.
Now one stadium compared to separate grandstand and bleachers.
Much more shelter for all in rain and with ability to view the game.
My favorite thing is that I can see the field while I am at the concessions. If a big play happens, I can turn around and catch a glimpse as compared to before.
Easy and fast access to concessions was great. I was able to get down to the concourse, buy a beer and back in my seat without missing a pitch between innings. Great views from the concourse without missing action. Its only going to get better when the 2nd level decks are opened. Question I had...I know the decks were designed for later renovation of the bleachers, but will they add steps now so the bleachers connect? Looks like a big gap and steep change from bleachers to the decks.
Seats are great, much better than what was done in the Cajundome. Lots of room and cupholders you can actually use. I love that the Stadium Club will have a view of the field without having to watch from tv's (Alex Box). Talked to some Southern Miss alums who travel to many games. First comment was how thrilled they were when they found out we sold beer. Second was that its the best stadium and atmosphere that they have been too, even before its finished. We really have a gem. Hopefully our teams will excel so that it can really be exposed on a national level.
