There have been on-going rumors/musings about building seating in the outfield.......especially in the right outfield. Anyone know something about this that they can share with us?
---renewed my baseball and hoping I can add to it when the time comes (based on RCAF ranking according to AD's letter)----Gave a shout out to the contractors for getting us into the stadium for opening day---Guess we will see what is up soon!!! Think about 800 more GS seats!!!
A few guys working today. Weather eill probably shut them down later today.
I have my reservations. What are the odds that this will be done by the season end. Are even the South Alabama game, March 31. I know they said that we will play our first home game, March 3, but not in the field of dreams we were hoping for......
If you mean 100% done. It certainly won't be on opening day but it will be done prior to the end of the season. Target date is April 22nd. That may slip due to the fact that we will occupy prior to that date and thus make it more difficult for them to finish but it won't add another month to the schedule.
Let me add that April 22nd is a date given a while back. I' sure there are probably updates from that point.
I'll just say that we will all be better off the day we walk in the stadium in 2017 than the day we walked out in 2016. I'm going to take a guess that the last thing completed is the private suites (because it effects the fewest people and can be isolated). Most of the public areas should be open for our enjoyment for a majority of the season.
I'm one of those people who was walking in with an ice chest and setting up on the third base line in front of the chain link fence. Certainly wasn't a brick wall or patio seats. Been around long before baseball was popular at UL or on the national scene. I've always been amazed at what we have been able to accomplish at this school and the new stadium is mind blowing. College baseball and softball are still sports where the little guy has a chance without being in the billionaire status unlike football and basketball.
After 30 plus years of showing up at the ballpark its kind of fitting that our first game in the new stadium is on my birthday! Happy Birthday to me.... ;-).
