I'm sure it slows down project completion to allow the general public into portion of the site. They may have lost some efficiency by getting it ready for March 3 occupancy.... but definitely worth it.

Brick masons working today. I guess they will work until the rain stops them. I drove down South College extension and saw that they have all but one section of the seats installed.

Any thoughts on whether the job will slow down because they feel having the seating in place they don't have to push the construction as hard? Is there a completion date where a penalty is in place if not completed?

And they have four days to get those seats in. Five if you count Friday morning.

This is probably done by different crews. I doubt (but I have no idea) the brick masons are the ones installing seats. I'm sure the electricians aren't being held up. Everything should be moving. The only thing that should slow them down is the weekend day games that they may have to stop working. With weekday and Friday games at night they will have all day to work

I would think that seating is part of Furniture Fixtures and Equipment and not part of construction. Therefore, installing seating would not have taken place until all of the construction necessary to install the seating has been completed. The people installing seating are not construction people. So installing seating is not taking away from construction. They are two different things being done by two different subcontractors.

I do think that because they will occupy a portion of the stadium prior to completion of the entire project the remaining construction will be hindered. How much i don't know.

I'm sure there is a completion date and there is a penalty for not meeting the completion date. However, because of the fiasco that happened at the beginning of the project, the University is not in a strong position to enforce any penalty on the contractor. The contractor has performed his end of the contract and i have no reason to believe that he won't continue to do the same until all phases of the contract are completed.

Come Friday afternoon you will have a place to sit, a place to pee and a place to eat. All better than what was there last year because what was there before was a dump. Plain and simple it was a dump. It will get better as the season progresses.

You forgot the most important part, a place to drink our beer and watch the Cajuns.

Helmutt we all have the same enthusiasm for the new digs. But for some reason every time I see you say the Tigue was "a dump", it rubs me the wrong way since you've said you've never even been to a Cajuns baseball game. The place was not first class, but it was definitely NOT a dump! The Tigue was awesome. The bathrooms were run down, but there were zero issues with the seating and gameday atmosphere. It was for all intents and purposes, a great venue.

Ok I will disagree with you a little bit. Both of my seat has been split down the middle the last two years. I never complained because I knew what was coming, but I had to buy but pads so my pants didn't get wet. The atmosphere and the many different types of beers we could buy is what made the Tigue. Take away the atmosphere and Georgia Southern, Texas State, Troy and South Alabama all had nicer stadiums than us. Just my nickel, I am going up on giving my opinion.

Saying there was zero issues with the seating is a stretch. You mean the faded tiny seats with no cup holders that were installed in place of benches. The same ones that depending on location everyone in the row had to stand in their seat to let other people get by? The bathrooms were a dump. Most of the concessions were temporary. The press box was a laughing stock that others felt the need to write about in multiple publications. The lighting was so bad in the outfield we considered it an advantage because we knew it better than the competition. How about that great sound system to go along with everything else.

Helmut was obviously talking facilities so game day atmosphere doesn't come into play.

Since I never went to a baseball game, I feel I have an unbiased opinion with my view being untainted by game day experience. Tigue Moore was built a little after Cajun Field. I would think both facilities had the same upkeep. While the game day experience at cajun field is nice, the stadium is a dump. Up until a few years ago there were still ____ troughs in the mens restrooms. I would hate to think what the womens restrooms were like. I would think similar issues existed at Tigue Moore. I will rely on what Canun90 said about the rest, as it appears he has first hand experience.

I have been involved in construction of both new and renovated facilities. I hate to tell you, but the old Tigue was pretty bad. Almost the worst i have seen.
