Thread: Super Regionals

  1. Default Re: Super Regionals

The strange thing is, for all the media now why is it so hard to see a better shot of these controversial plays...... Why do i think if it was a home team game winning homer we would have clear views of everything....... Oh well "praise tebow" ncaa dodged a huge bullet, omaha is not cancelled!

With an attitude like this, too bad it didnt cost him. Im sure most will disagree but i think this is worse than what miami "kid" did, this is supposed to be a paid professional while the other is a kid and a student first.

Again, I thought you Cajuns were experts in baseball.

If an umpire signals before the play is complete then he did his job incorrectly.

    From the MLB rules book:
    http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y20...ball_rules.pdf

Under "GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO UMPIRES" on Page 97

"Do not come running with your arm up or down, denoting “out” or
“safe.” Wait until the play is completed before making any arm motion."

So what's the rule up in Ruston when the ump is attacked by Racoons who have taken over the grandstand and marked it as their kingdom?

so the game would continue indefinitely with no signal, and no time out could be called for anyone to see about an injured player? why aren't they still at the stadium now, then, since the play is still not over according to you....

I agree the ump didn't do his job correctly, but it was not for the reason you site.
in his mind he did do it correctly to adhere to his marching orders to always protect the flagship

    Bye Felicia.

Better you spend your time helping to ensure that you hillbilly idiots don't kill a third 'live' mascot.

You can ignore him if you like. You can also ignore my post stating the same thing. DJDAWG is absolutely correct. No safe sign should have been given.

(and for those of you who want to say, yeah, but what about.....the safe call on the dropped third strike is the same as the safe call on a trapped ball. It means there was no catch.)

so wouldnt it make sense that his safe call was in reference to no catch once he sees the guy didnt hang on?

did the coastal Carolina coach discuss or appeal or argue the play with the umpires? I couldn't find any mention or quotes in articles.

also given that the requirements for tagging a base are quite different than for tagging a runner or even for making a catch, does anyone else think the fielder simply made the out in the first place?

granted I wish I could find a video link that is longer, begins earlier (runner also seems to have been out of runner's lane) and stays with the play longer hopefully until time is called.
