Had an Arizona kid ( # 14 ) come eat Jambalaya at our tailgate between games. He said not to be surprised but if it came down to an inning or two at the end of the game - Bannister might toe the mound again............

if we returned this entire team next year I'd be willing to bet they would look very similar to 2014...it rarely falls that way. I like Deggs and think he is a great coach but 2014 was the perfect storm of player retention of a very tight knit group. A lot of those core players weren't Deggs. He is damn good coach, not a magician and he certainly didn't do 2014 all by himself.
I was thinking that myself from the time I heard about Bannister starting and then being left in for 100 pitches after throwing 90 2 days prior. No way on earth would I even consider letting my son play for that guy, he has nothing but his end goal in mind and isn't above destroying a kids future to obtain it.
I don't take a single thing away from the guys on their team, they were the better team and they just flat outplayed us, but how they got to that point...well, I have my reservations.
The only players to me that were even slight head scratchers were Strentz and Baranik... We all knew strentz was kinda of ready to go pro and I think Baranik could have Improved his stock coming back or just enjoyed his senior year. The other juniors stock was never gonna be higher.
All true, but there was unfinished business...Omaha.
If Deggs stayed I'm not saying those guys wouldn't have gone pro after getting drafted and the signing bonus offers they did. I'm just saying I was told that him leaving was a big factor that weighed in their decisions before the draft took place.
