Not exactly a glowing endorsement by this author
Is this the main reason for camps..... Are they an exception to the recruiting process, i.e. i thought a recruit cannot be contacted until they are a junior, so therefore if they are at camp there can be contact despite not being a junior???
Ridiculous. No way to spin it.
Well it is no more ridiculous than lots of legendary programs doing exactly that including one just fifty miles East. Get over it, it is just hype, like the barker at the strip clubs on Bourbon Street.
Why Why Why??
So when he turns 17 and isn't cutting it, they can pull the offer and look terrible? How about when Ole Miss or ALA comes calling for a full ride and the kid flips?
It is ridiculous but becoming common now. This kid will be one of the top recruits in the south when you consider his size and athletic ability. So Hudspeth just offered him like many others will over the next year. Is it any different then U13-U14 baseball travel ball and scouting camps that rate kids at that age or AAU U13-U14 basketball all-star players that get ranked? Its all the same right now.
Like T said, its all part of the evolving recruiting game. You offer now knowing he won't commit anytime soon and you can say, down the road, that you were the first to offer and were with him for 4 years. Nobody is making roster changes and exceptions this early in the game with this kid and there is no risk to the situation for us. Even if he were to "commit" now, you know that a lot can change over the years but at least you were in the door.
Not anymore ridiculous than the stupid thread on who's paying for the tiger to get cancer treatment.
It is ridiculous. It was ridiculous when LSU did it. It's ridiculous when anyone does it. Just cause it's my coach, doesn't make it not ridiculous.
I didn't say we were better or worse than anyone else. I know it's becoming more common. It is still a bad thing.
And MelRock...that thread is classic Ragin Pagin. I just wish someone would start making smart ___ memes....
It is never ridiculous to be on the same recruiting platform as your competitors. Yes, if it were banned by the NCAA I would be a lot happier, but that isn't happening, so the only ridiculous thing is to to not match your competition.
