Thread: Beyond the Regional

  1. Default Beyond the Regional

Assuming we win the Regional (for the sake of discussion), the only way we would host a Super Regional is if Mississippi State loses. Unlikely... but then again, anything can happen.

....not trying to jinx anything.... but just in case..... I wanted to let you know that there are very few rooms left in Starkville. I went ahead and booked some just in case, but you might want to consider options with cancellation policies nearby (there isn't much).

I think we just found our first complaint to throw State's way. They complained an awful lot of our facilities and ticket allotment in 2014. I bet Lafayette had plenty of hotel rooms!

Columbus is where most folks stay and they have more rooms. About 20 miles away.

Just spoke to other folks who have been there recently; they stayed in the towns 30-40 minutes away. Not my preference, but if I have to, I will.

I stayed in Austin this past weekend and commuted to San Marcos each day. Although I must admit staying in Austin and commuting to San Marcos is much better than stayin in BFE Cow Pasture, MS and commuting to Starkville.

That's what I've discovered in my research. Any recommendations for accommodations, BoP? (i.e., places that pass... or DON'T pass... the smell test?)

I thought about looking at rooms in Austin last weekend as everything that wasn't roach infested in SM was super expensive. I found a place on airbnb that was $100/night. It was a .5 mile walk from the SM downtown area. Had a double bed and single day bed with a kitchen and full bathroom. We slept 3 in it. Also, we booked the place on Tuesday night. Just something to consider outside of the traditional hotel route, and some of their listings are very reasonable.

Wife & I stayed in New Braunfels for our last TXST trip. It was a pretty quick trek to San Marcos.

When I looked middle of last week, I couldn't find anything there either. At least at a decent price. San Marcos and New Braunfels were my first tries, before looking in SA and Austin. The $100/night place we stayed at was still cheaper than anything in any of those 4 cities that wasn't a complete dump. For any Cajun fans that were looking at Starkville for next weekend. I found a 2BR/2BA whole apartment on airbnb for $140/night. Believe it could sleep up to 6. Looked like it was in the middle of town as well.

EDIT: I'm guessing memorial weekend + Schitterbahn annihilated any chance of finding a decently priced room in New Braunfels.
