How about our President contact the OU President, the head of ESPN, and the head of The Advocate and get this resolved, as ManABoutTown already suggested? And, as BOP stated, unless and until Dr. S takes a stand on this, our fight for our name is futile.

Fight with ESPN may be futile. One approach may be for our representatives to use University of Louisiana whenever as often as possible when being interviewed. That would let folks know how we feel about the issue. However, those guys have other priorities, like getting their team ready to play and to help them during contests. To them, that takes precedence over the other issue.

But again Mike, at this point, how is that not an understood expectation? How have our "representatives" not been coached on media relations? How have our players not been coached to use Louisiana exclusively when speaking about our programs?

This name thing can not be simply a suggestion. (Would you go into a sales meeting or pre-construction meeting and say "My name is ____, I represent Chevron. But feel free to call it Chevy, we don't really care.")

The BRAND is at stake. Our identity. A stance has got to be taken and implemented! I can't believe I'm having to type this so many years into this boondoggle).
