Can I politely disagree?
We have a current thread with Robe talking about teaching character to young men, above baseball.
We have another current thread with BOP talking about the top 5 memories at The Tigue. None were in games, they were all about people, and the kind of great people we have as players and supporters.
I guess the hardest one for me is John Coker. Man was a baseball phenomenon, should have played the majors. Now he's fighting to live something approaching a normal life, after fighting to represent our country.
I don't think any of us would say that of everything that he has done, the most important was winning at baseball.
Sorry to put you on the spot, C4. But sometimes we forget what's really important.
All of us, me too.
JUST WIN BABY!!!
Good post Fun. I think C4L means that a national championship is what UL softball has left to do for the program to move into a different level of respect (in the sport itself). Despite our massive accomplishments, it's like ESPN and the nation just don't want to give us the full respect of that body of work. Their message always has a hint of "can you believe this little program does this"... when in reality "that little program" is absolutely second to very very few. By winning the WCWS, I think it will flip the switch. I "think" it will.
I don't take C4L, in the context of the subject, to be dismissive of the higher virtues of this institution and the higher virtues in athletics.
But... JUST WIN BABY!!! LOL
