Washington was the team who just lost a series to a bad Washington State at home.

So you're saying you know more than Baseball America and D1baseball writers? Cool story bro. I don't think anybody is running around with our hair on fire claiming the Cajuns are definitely hosting a regional. We all know we have work to do. But your frivolous responses acting like our resume is dogs()it is pretty funny. All you keep doing is zeroing in on the "record vs. top 25" rhetoric. If you think that's the ONLY thing the Committee looks at, then it's not even worth discussing with you.
I'm full of myself because I don't agree with a college baseball PROJECTION?? Tell your side texting friends, if they've got so much to say, get their azzes on the board and state their case. (It's an honor, really, to bother someone that much.) I'm not just rattling off bullsht. I'm giving you an opinion based on the numbers I'm seeing. It's not a drive by "nope you're wrong". I'm giving you Top 25 numbers because it freaking matters jackass. I could say the same thing about your RPI argument. RPI is just a formula. A flawed one at that. The Cajuns have been a top 20 RPI team the majority of the year. You're telling me from mid April to early May this baseball team was a top 20 team in the country?? Get a grip.

You say in this comment that you're not saying their a lock, but in your original answer you said they were almost certainly a lock? Which is it Mr. text fingers?

ASSUMING they sweep in the conference tourney, they are a borderline host team. Accept it.

Which is apparently why D1 thinks Utah wins the series this weekend.

Nope. I said they are a lock IF they win the conference Tourny. Your antics don't bother me. I don't need to get a grip little boy. I know what I'm looking at. I don't give 2 shuts how "good" the Cajuns were in April. All I care about is what they are doing now and the committee will look at our strong finish. I'm glad bothering people gives you so much happiness. Enjoy.

    LOL. My "antics".

"IF" is such a wonderful word, isn't it? It gives all hopes life. IF the teams in front us keep winning, we aren't hosting. IF we lose 1 game in the SBC, we aren't hosting. IF geography doesn't work out, we can still end up being a #1 seed and going on the road.

I can play the IF game too.

Historically the committee has followed the rpi pretty closely from 1-12. Obviously there have been exceptions. It has typically been a lot more fluid further down the list.

As of now 12-18 consist of Texas Tech, Virginia, Coastal Carolina, North Carolina, Florida State, TCU, & UL. RPI ranges from .5928 - .5818. (all numbers per WarrenNolan) Pretty tight cluster and doesn't include the teams below us.

Personally I think we need to win the tournament and get some help. In particular from Coastal and Florida State. Most of the time when the committee takes someone outside the top 16 rpi for hosting its meant bringing someone up from one of the higher rated rpi conferences. SBC is ranked 9th which isn't bad but not enough to help in this instance.

Geography certainly doesn't play in our favor. The lack of West Coast teams with a high rpi is troublesome. UC-Santa Barbara is one spot behind us at #19. Assuming they have submitted a bid it might be hard to pass them up as a host even as a #2 (update - they did not submit a bid). I just can't see the NCAA not having a single regional out West so we might still end up with a #2 hosting.

If we can't sneak our way into the top 16 I think we are done. Even if we are in the top 16 I think it is a stretch.

Highly unlikely that UCSB gets a host spot after finishing 3rd in the Big West, despite the high RPI ranking.

    Good post, and logical reasoning.
