Guys at D1 Baseball seem to think we're fighting with Tulane for USM's possible spot. Going to New Orleans as a 2 would be a pretty good consolation prize.

Interesting.
If it's between us, USM, and Tulane... With a win of the SBC tourney, I think we easily top Tulane. The question is Southern Miss. They could make up some ground at the CUSA tournament. Guess we need to pull for their opponents - even though we played them once - especially since they beat us. If it is a toss-up between Cajuns and Eagles, it could come down to the late-season head to head which USM won.
Yes - but we have a conference title and a better RPI and #1 Non-conference strength of schedule.
I do not think the above fully captures the situation. See this post.
I would not say this concerning Tulane. What concerns me about Tulane ...
They won the #6 RPI conference (AAC) and are 8-2 vs. the RPI Top 25. The Cajuns are 0-4 vs. this peer group. The more RPI separation the Cajuns can achieve with Tulane ... the better. A UCF win over Tulane Tuesday would also help. Both Tulane and the Cajuns have one bad RPI loss.
I also think that Southern Mississippi is less relevant now that they finished third in CUSA. #22 Florida Atlantic (as a #1 seed) concerns me as they won CUSA ... the #5 RPI conference ... and are 5-3 vs. the RPI Top 25. They could be used to allow a #2 seed western school to host.
No, not necessarily. The only way USM gets back into the #1 seed and hosting discussion is if they win the CUSA Tournament. This is possible as they will be hosting the tournament. Go Rice and Louisiana Tech! :-)

It's great that we can have his discussion this year. I love this time of year, especially when there is softball and baseball talk. Remind me not to take this for granted
Cannot see three number one seeds in the state. It would help if the Lamers were 0/2 in their tournament.
yea i dont see south carolina or louisiana getting 3 host spots.
