I bet this happening now is related to semester ending and likely insuring his grades were good enough to not having APR issues with his departure
So, the question remains Mike. Are you confident that Marlin can find a replacement that will actually contribute to this team and may actually stay more than a couple semesters? He isn't exactly knocking the socks off the high schoolers who are going out of state and he seems to be missing on quite a few.

Answer to question is a qualified yes. Basis of answer is view that transfers are being targeted for this last scholarship. Once transfers come in, they generally stay. How much they contribute I cannot answer at this time. If you take a fifth year transfer, he is likely to be counted on. We did sign two high schoolers and the JC guy is originally from New Orleans.

Mike I thought that was the mantra for JUCO players. You don't sign them to play four minutes a game, unless perhaps to sink free throws late in a tight game.

Why don't we just admit it, Marlin is on a bad run with player loyalty, and or quality. Maybe it's bad luck, but most likely taking gambles on too many players lacking the skill and emotional stability we need.

Can't argue much with the above posts. Only hope for some differentiation from this view is that the guys who sat out this year perform well next season. There is some basis for optimism this well occur. Davis is our most highly regarded recruit in a couple of years with the ability to score from many areas, Evans showed he has outstanding range in HS, and Bartley was one of the top defenders at BYU playing out of position. His move from small forward to guard here may allow him to be an impact player. No way to know now if these guys can live up to this potential. We will start to find out in November.

Ole Miss grad transfer F Terry Brutus tells me he's committed to Samford. Also visited Cajuns, UTRGV, FIU & Manhattan. Injuries limited Brutus (6-6/235) to 36 games at Ole Miss. Tough/physical/athletic. Impact guy if healthy.
