I think its time for Bobby to go!

That was in the past when david patrick was there. He went on to LSU where he got Simmons to go. He recently left LSU to go to TCU as a top assistant. St. Mary's does not have as many Australians as when Patrick was their top recruiter.

Many fans who go to games actually would have been disappointed had Wooten stayed. Maybe his scholarship can go to a contributor. Good luck to him. I imagine our staff will help him find a non D1 school to go to and gooo luck to him. I bet this happening now is related to semester ending and likely insuring his grades were good enough to not having APR issues with his departure

Disappointing that he didn't play or get a chance to play up to his potential. How much potential he had, I have zero idea. But he didnt reach it. I would have been disappointed if he had stayed and played the same amount of minutes. I would have much preferred that he stay and been a significant contributor.

I don't buy this was totally his idea. I think staff encouraged move. I believe they concluded he was not talented enough to contribute. Evidence of that is transfers being considered. His scholarship is needed if one of those signs.

Agreed Mike. I didn't think he played well enough to be on a scholly. But Marlin couldn't do better on signing day. That's another problem.

I always have doubts about signing JC guys after their freshman year unless they are special. That is what we did with Wooten as we signed him in the early signing period of 2014-15. He had done well in his freshman JUCO year but had not begun his sophomore year in JC at that point. After he struggled so much that year, I was hoping we could help place him else where and move to someone else. I guess we wanted to honor the scholarship.

Or we had no better option, let's be honest we aren't dealing with a recruiting guru

We had options. He was our first signee that year. Should never have pulled the trigger that quick. Three much higher rated guys signed last spring. They all sat out this year and they are a key to next season.

Having Wooten on the roster provided the depth that allowed Davis and Evans to redshirt. I didn't really expect much from him coming into the season but I have to admit he played ok in the early part of the season. He was even the leading scorer against ULM in the 1st game. He seemed to lose his shot and got lost in the rotation after that and then the addition of McGuire was the final nail in the coffin on his playing time. I thought he may stick around just to provide some depth again after Register left, but if the coaches think that some of the true freshman coming in like Williams and Brown can contribute more than Wooten that has to be a positive.
