I don't see why he gives a ____ either way. P5 and G5 programs come to Louisiana whether there are satellite camps or not, and they normally get any recruit they want. Kids will commit to a name more than they will a geographic region. This is all SEC, from the top to the bottom. It's the only reason they were banned, because someone from the North decided they had the cheese to set up a lemonade stand on their street. We do not factor into this decision, we are merely a pawn in the entire game, or we are merely a pawn for golf vacations and spa weekends.

But that's the crux of the matter...WE CAN'T PROTECT OUR OWN TURF. We have lost so many recruits to P5 programs coming into Louisiana, and those are teams who haven't done satellite camps in this state, at least not to my knowledge. That's part of the reason why I don't see why he even cares. Satellite camps benefit us more than they hurt us. We are taking part in a supercamp in Birmingham I was reading about.

They do that now, without camps. More camps down south also gives us a chance to be part of more camps through arrangements, and it ups the chances of recruits that were not scouted before to be scouted. It drives more access, which has to help everyone. Remember, that hidden gem could be hidden to everyone including us.

Sounds like he is tryin to limit the camps in such a way that would benifit UL the most. I don't know this for certain, but I don't think UL can afford the number of camps that Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, USC and other can.

Kids don't have to attend every camp. They would likely only attend some that are hosted by programs they may be interested in. The kids do have a decision in this as well. Also, I agree with Hawk that these bigger schools have been coming in our backyard for years and taking athletes we wanted but as long as LSU is at their current level, we won't have to worry about other schools as we've always lost out to the them for the higher rated athletes in the state.

We don't need to. Hosting them is one thing but we can piggy back on other big programs and have coaches there to look at prospects also. I do not like the ban but I could certainly live with his concept of limiting it somewhat. It makes very little sense for Hud to agree with the ban since he's gotten a number of signees through these camps.

Double edged sword, enlarged access for everyone else, means more access for us too. A proactive approach (instead of this turf boundary we don't even have reactive ____) is to partner with teams who want to run camps in Louisiana or the surrounding states and share the cost. That way we get more camps...for half the cost. The P5 teams don't even need camps to come in here and raid us. At least with camps, more recruits get more looks. And correct me if I am wrong here, but this whole hidden gem being our entire strategy hasn't really worked out for us, because the only gems we find normally won't qualify academically.

Or the hidden gems we've found have been out of MS. And before people throw out Eli, he was not hidden, he was just assumed to not qualify so the bigger programs passed.
