GRAND COTEAU - Mrs. Priscillia Toney, 58, a native of Grand Coteau, LA, and longtime resident of Snellville, GA, passed on Saturday, April 23, 2016, after a tough battle with cancer. A beloved teacher of over 25 years, she was currently an assistant principal at Anderson-Livesy Elementary School in Gwinnett County, GA. Priscillia left not only an impact on the community, but also an impact in the hearts of thousands of educators, students, parents, and families.
A private christian mass service will be held by her family at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 914 Scenic Highway, Lawrenceville, GA, on Friday, April 29, 2016, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Public visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Her final resting place will follow at the Eternal Hills Memory Garden, Snellville, GA.
Mrs. Toney was a graduate of the University of Southwestern, Lafayette, Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana, Lafayette), and Walden University. She worked for Gwinnett County Public Schools in Georgia, for over 25 years. She was awarded "Teacher of the Year" in 2004 for her service in education. As a teacher and later as an assistant principal, Priscillia soundly impacted the lives and hearts of thousands of educators, students, and parents.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Toney, her son Channing Toney, two daughters Chanel and Collette Toney; and one granddaughter, Nyla Merriwether. She is also survived by five sisters—Gloria Joseph and Ella Mae Bobb, Houston, TX; Patricia Milton, Beaumont, TX; Mary Myrtle Bobb-Singleton, Grand Coteau, LA; and two brothers—Joseph Bobb, Jr., and Charles Morris Bobb, both of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Bobb, Sr., and Lillie Mae Livings-Bobb, her brother, PFC Chester Bobb, and two sisters, Elenora Edwards and Myrtle Mae Guillory, and her nephew, Chester Edwards.
She will be greatly missed.
