Not many people would be ok with delayed compensation that written into their contract.
He shared the division and had an overall losing record. It's not marlin's fault that our AD allowed such language in the contract... But no coach should be rewarded for a losing season..ever. while I didn't agree with it, if it was in his contract that he get that...even I thought it was owed to him if that was agreed upon. A deal is a deal even if it's a bad one. While marlin was being ever so thoughtful for Hud's sake... He essentially granted himself extra years on his deal by "allowing us" to do the extension later. The man has hard time relating to players and recruiting but he isn't dumb.

Oh, I agree that the contract was not ideal. It's another example of our AD crapping the bed in regards to details within a contract i.e. Third tier rights in our TV contract. While Marlin did guarantee himself an extra couple of years, he also took in less money while waiting for the extension. Regardless, the man's bank account isn't hurting. No one with eyes would vouch for marlin's recruiting. His previous tenure at Sam Houston st yielded some pretty solid guard play. I'm sure most would agree that our guard play has been subpar other than Payton.

He still insured himself of more years and more money by doing so...job security life of contract is biggest thing in coaching.

I think someone used that line already....just saying. Seems a little tired and repetitious to me.

Kind of like your blind defense of our basketball coach

You clearly can't read. I NEVER defended Coach Marlin. I only defended the fact that there is always three sides of the story and the problem lies with the money.

Since you chose not to contribute to the answer of the question, let me explain why I asked the question. If they have stellar careers at other schools then it may point to a problem in the coaching staff, if they don't have great careers and they never finish school maybe, as you have said, maybe they should not have been recruited in the first place. Or maybe they were recruited as a development player (much like Bazaar) but the guy thinks he can contribute elsewhere and flies the coup.

I would go with they were recruited and developmental and they thought they were better and transferred for whatever reason they wanted to tell the coach.

I sure haven't heard of any transfer's blowing the doors off of the NCAA tourney or NBA team. Doesn't mean they haven't ...just that this board, as far as I know, has been silent on the success of the transfers and if they are not successful why are we worried about an attrition problem?
This prompted your post about the 5 (really 3) latest transfers

I guess you missed the above response or I missed your response.

So...let me be clear in what I think. If he is a bad coach...fire him. If he is a bad recruiter...fire him. BUT, since there are contracts and OTHER things that ONLY the AD (as much as he sucks...see above and substitute AD for coach) and the Coach know, it's difficult to know the truth.

I just so happen to have faith in the Dr. Savoie to do the right thing when the times comes.

Well then why do you post at all? About anything? Since you can't possibly know the truth on any situation... Just keep your thoughts to yourself if you feel that way. Why don't we just ban talk about our coach because he is under contract? Marlins needs to feel the heat, he needs to know what he isn't doing isn't working. Just like in any business or job... How will you ever know you are f'n up if somebody doesn't tell you? I have a feeling they will know clearly when renewals come around. If you want to state your opinion in a public place be man enough to defend your stance or ignore the criticisms that come with it. It's a message board on the line. Or you can simply ignore me. Sorry if I gather information and makeup my own mind on something and not just listen and believe everything directly from the staffs mouth. I can read and comprehend just fine.

Come on...really. If people would do that, you wouldn't have anything to wallow in.

Do you think YOU or ANYONE in Lafayette is his boss besides the AD? If he did, or any other for that matter, he would be around for long because the other side of the argument would be asking for his job because he has no backbone. I think he is in a no-win situation, much like all coaches, if they win people like you want his head because of an off year and if he loses you want his head because he can't coach or recruit.

You should talk to Johnathon Perry about your comedic career. Maybe both of you can come up with something together to improve his performance as a state senator...and you can improve your comedic qualities.

If I were not defending my stance, like a man I must add, I would be doing something other than wallowing around with you.

I still have a question about this...just saying you have your opinion and nothing will sway it. That's ok...Obama hasn't taken away all your rights yet.

Much more concerned with what Marlin is doing off the court than on it... He is a good X's and O's guy... I've said that more than once. An off year? Hud had an off year, Marlinonly had 1 good year out of 6. I'm not his boss... But I sure am his customer, guess what's the fastest way to get fired? Lose all your customers. I don't want his head, I want him to stop listening to his cronies that tell him he is gods gift to basketball, that he can do no wrong. I want Marlin to not be comfortable with what he has done so far. I want him and everyone around him to stop making excuses about the dome, the depth perception, travel, the refs the lights, not having mops... Stop making f'n excuses fur everything. We shoot in the dome more than anyone yet people come in here once and shoot the lights out...cajundome doesn't bother them. It's a joke... He constantly talks about it being a guard game... When he gets a gaurds he can't keep them here then he replaces them with undersized role players at the forward position. You could actually contribute to the conversation or keep deflecting is what most people do when they know they are wrong

Bottom line. Bob is below average as a coach.
