I believe Marlin received his extension and raise for winning the division his first year. The extension and raise was built into his contract. However, Marlin allowed the university to wait a year or two before executing the new contract due to a lack of funds. If I'm not mistaken, the additional money went to Hud's new deal. Not many people would be ok with delayed compensation that written into their contract.

He shared the division and had an overall losing record. It's not marlin's fault that our AD allowed such language in the contract... But no coach should be rewarded for a losing season..ever. while I didn't agree with it, if it was in his contract that he get that...even I thought it was owed to him if that was agreed upon. A deal is a deal even if it's a bad one. While marlin was being ever so thoughtful for Hud's sake... He essentially granted himself extra years on his deal by "allowing us" to do the extension later. The man has hard time relating to players and recruiting but he isn't dumb.

No one with eyes would vouch for marlin's recruiting. His previous tenure at Sam Houston st yielded some pretty solid guard play. I'm sure most would agree that our guard play has been subpar other than Payton.

You clearly can't read. I NEVER defended Coach Marlin. I only defended the fact that there is always three sides of the story and the problem lies with the money.

Did I say they were talentless? Nope sure didn't. Stop making an azz of yourself by assuming you know where I am going with a question. There is always three sides to an issue and as T-Bine put it earlier, the truth is always in the middle.

Since you chose not to contribute to the answer of the question, let me explain why I asked the question. If they have stellar careers at other schools then it may point to a problem in the coaching staff, if they don't have great careers and they never finish school maybe, as you have said, maybe they should not have been recruited in the first place. Or maybe they were recruited as a development player (much like Bazaar) but the guy thinks he can contribute elsewhere and flies the coup.

I would go with they were recruited and developmental and they thought they were better and transferred for whatever reason they wanted to tell the coach.

I sure haven't heard of any transfer's blowing the doors off of the NCAA tourney or NBA team. Doesn't mean they haven't ...just that this board, as far as I know, has been silent on the success of the transfers and if they are not successful why are we worried about an attrition problem?

Glad they had success, but that's three out 17 that went on to being successful. Success doesn't come from playing and signing with an SEC team and playing for a P5.

I just so happen to have faith in the Dr. Savoie to do the right thing when the times comes.

Why don't we just ban talk about our coach because he is under contract? Marlins needs to feel the heat, he needs to know what he isn't doing isn't working. Just like in any business or job... How will you ever know you are f'n up if somebody doesn't tell you? I have a feeling they will know clearly when renewals come around. Much more concerned with what Marlin is doing off the court than on it... He is a good X's and O's guy... I've said that more than once. An off year? Hud had an off year, Marlinonly had 1 good year out of 6. I'm not his boss... But I sure am his customer, guess what's the fastest way to get fired? Lose all your customers. I don't want his head, I want him to stop listening to his cronies that tell him he is gods gift to basketball, that he can do no wrong. I want Marlin to not be comfortable with what he has done so far. I want him and everyone around him to stop making excuses about the dome, the depth perception, travel, the refs the lights, not having mops... Stop making f'n excuses fur everything. We shoot in the dome more than anyone yet people come in here once and shoot the lights out...cajundome doesn't bother them. It's a joke... He constantly talks about it being a guard game... When he gets a gaurds he can't keep them here then he replaces them with undersized role players at the forward position. You could actually contribute to the conversation or keep deflecting is what most people do when they know they are wrong
