Thread: Jay Hedgeman issued summons for posession

He also has issues with ASU coaches. You've got to find a way to get along with those guys. Often they have more sway with players than anyone but mom.

Now maybe we are getting somewhere. I think there so many moving parts to all this that it's hard to follow.

Are we bringing in the kids we can "get" because we cant recruit or because they are the talent that will commit and then we are "stuck" with lessor quality basketball player's.

When a better player comes in and "thinks" he is all that and a box of popsorn and he doesn't get what he thinks he deserves, he transfer's. CC brought in a very good list of transfer's that are successful. My question is: are the three that were listed a "norm" for basketball. Can't compare the power teams in the NCAA, let's compare other mid major's.

What comes first the chicken or the egg. In football, is was the chicken. Hud coached up Bustle's recruits and was successful.

Thanks, that is a very detailed list. What I take from this list is not that players were unhappy here; they may have been unhappy with their playing time but most of them transferred to a lower level team, probably in hopes of getting more playing time.

That attrition level is more of a recruiting issue ... I don't know if we are higher or lower than comparable programs with this issue but I do hope we can turn this around.

It's a no win situation. Transfers to lower caliber team equals not getting good players/citizens. Transfers to equal makes it look like they're unhappy here. Marlin looks bad in both those situations. Transfers to much better program. I guess Marlin can slide on that.

Z, he's gonna end up making about five million here. Talk about ____ing away millions to save hundreds of thousands.

Very few kool aid drinkers in the thread. The great majority of the posts in the thread were negative towards the staff. I would gather only about 10 per cent of the people who participate here are supportive of the staff at this stage. Focus was not on is he a good coach or not but do the two guys leaving this year an indication of a recruiting/ retention issue.

Pretty awesome when you can make 500K a year and be awful at your job. Where can I find a job like that??

Opinion here and a matter of semantics as well, Coach Marlin is not "awful" at his job. Awful does not have three consecutive winning seasons (all three were winning seasons when you count only D1 games as well). Mediocre was used to describe his tenure earlier. That is more accurate as to me mediocre means, not bad-but also not good. Being slightly above 0.500 in D1 games fits that description to me. Awful would be continually having 10 and 20 seasons. Again, your view depends on how you define subjective terms like awful and mediocre. If "awful" is being slightly above 0.500, how would one describe being well below 0.500. Also, several players will graduate from this year's team soon. Although that does not matter to the huge majority of fans, it is in his job description and it does mean something to the administration.

    Mediocre doesn't justify 500K a year.
