Louisiana Returns To Conference Play Against Texas State

The 20th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team returns to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend as the Cajuns host Texas State in a three-game series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field that matches two of the top four teams in the league starting Friday at 6 p.m.

All I know is, our guys need to be sharp this weekend. TxSt can pitch. Humpal is good. They are also very due for a good win. (TxSt is 0-8 against RPI top 100 clubs) They have a kid that has 13 dingers and for some reason, we've allowed team's best hitters to hurt us this year.

We need to roll this weekend to stay in the Regional Hosting mix.

We need to get to their bullpen in all 3 games early and often. Their starters are good, but we have a chance in their bullpen. We hit Humpal and Hallonquist hard last year in game 1 and game 3 of the series in San Marcos.

Humpal gave up 7 hits and 6 Earned runs in 6.1 innings last year, while Hallonqust gave up 9 hits and 8 runs, 7 earned runs in 4.0 innings in game 3 last year. We also hit Humpal hard in the game we lost in the SBC tournament giving up 10 hits 6 runs and 4 earned runs in just 3.1 innings. We got 5 hits off of Geisler in the 2nd win of the SBC tournamnet in 6.1 innings and then roughed up Humpal again in the 3rd game of the SBC giving up 6 hits and 5 runs in 7.1 innings in that game. We have hit Humpal and Hallonquist well in the past. We are going to need to do it again this weekend.
