He will issue some free passes. He can throw a plus breaking pitch for a strike. But his effectiveness is in getting you to chase the breaking stuff out of the zone. You need to be disciplined and work to get ahead in the count.

This is why I posed the question ... and to point out that it also matters whom you are facing on the hill. Given it was DMo, I think it was the correct decision. Besides, it took a nice play by Robbins to throw him out at first base.
