Jordan has been inconsistent in camp. PROBABLY, the coaches are sensing a little bit of entitlement issues, and are sending a message to him via the media. This is much ado about nothing. Jordan Davis will be your starter against Boise St.
You guys don't get it, Hud wants Nixon to be our QB anybody else is fighting uphill.
He didn't have a problem keeping Blaine on the bench after TB saw the field as starter. So, you can't say this is a trend. He saw TB as a better option than Blaine, even after Blaine had a tremendous Jr. season and winning the NOLA bowl MVP.
So, I have to believe he's not convinced in Jordan. That's nothing but wanting to be sure our best option is on the field against Boise St. Either the competition is close due to poor play, or due to equal good play. Hoping for the latter.
How about this for a trend: QBs and an alarming number of the other "great recruits" do not develop and often regress in this sytem.
I think something we didn't and still don't quite know about... infected things over a stretch of time... leading into our program being jacked up last year. I'm 50/50 on whether Hud has that aspect under control. Too many people called it a natural down year... but I think it was a system management issue. I know your average fan has his head wound around "the QB"... I'm more eager to see if I spot significant coaching improvements from the balance of play this year.
Hud does need to know that a #1 QB needs to be chosen once the season starts, regardless of how close #2 did in the competition. And he cannot, absolutely cannot use a 2 QB system this year. Pulling #1 has to be because he outright failed or he's injured. I hope Hud knows that.
Jordan Davis will be the starter, book it!
