Why in the hell did that idiot AD give a 5 year extension!!!! At least 3 more years of this crap!

Because he's willing to be this mediocre indefinitely. If Marlin doesn't fall off the edge of the world he will get yet another raise and extension before his contract expires.

Bartley's specialty is defense. He started at forward at 6'3" at BYU. He will play off guard here. He will guard the opponent's best player which will allow Stove to concentrate more on scoring.

Some will say that is why Register didn't play more ... he played too much "off guard" on defense!

Just kidding; it's a rainy April Fool's Day ... go out and enjoy!

I think with Bartly, Stove and Wright we will be much better defensively at the guard position. That is my personal opinion.

I agree defense on perimeter will be improved next season. I also think we will be able to force a quicker pace more easily.

And who's going to handle the basketball? I don't understand why we don't talk about this more. Wright is brutal in the turnover department, especially late in games.

The same as this year when someone pressures us: Bryce Washington.

Bryce will handle the ball quite a bit again next season. He may even be more effective next season if he is healthy. In addition to Wright, Kadavion Evans will be used as a point guard. He will be a redshirt freshman next season. He may be our best outside shooter next season as well. While he may not be the athlete Jay is, he makes very few mistakes. He redshirted this year so as to grow into his body which may not let opponents take advantage of his size on defense.

I think Wright gets a little bit of a bad rap, he is a decent PG and I think he is a starter on 75 % of the mid majors teams out there. Jay isn't a turnover machine, his assist to turnover ratio the past two years is 1.6, exactly the same as Elfrid his soph and junior years. That being said he does have a tendency to let the game get away from him at times and starts to play out of control. I would also like to see him improve at the foul line a little.
Part of the issue here is since he has been here he has been the only true PG on scholarship. Shepherd was a 2 who would run the point when he had too, and as much as I liked Tiremone he was a walk on for a reason. Wright played more minutes than anyone else besides Long each of the past 2 seasons, that could have contributed to mistakes down the stretch as well.

I know we have Evans coming off a redshirt year, but from what I've seen and heard he's more of a shooter than PG, I'll basically classify him as another Shepherd without the experience. I don't know much about Hardy yet but there will be a learning curve for any true freshman adjusting to the speed of the college game.

I had heard the staff was looking at JUCO PGs earlier, I would hope this would be considered again now that Register's scholarship is open. Bring somebody in that could rest Jay or be a change of pace when needed next year, and then be around to help with experience transitioning into the following season. It could even open up the possibility of red shirting Hardy.
