He was on campus after his year at the JC and there was speculation from some on here that he wanted to return. I do not think he wanted to return.
I was young so dont know much about the JJ Thomas situation but I heard he wanted to play football or what happened with him? I'm not telling, I'm asking
I never heard about JJ Thomas wanting to play football. He and Raymone Andrews had a dispute with the staff and transferred. His brother was scheduled to come here but went to New Mexico. He struggled there. Later, both Thomas brothers admitted they made a mistake in leaving. JJ was never the same player he was after his freshman year due to a bad knee injury. I can assure you Kentwan Smith asked to come back but the administration and basketball staff thought that would set a bad precedent so they declined his request. Finally, as far as mistakes go, Coach Marlin regrets not releasing Andrews after his first year. Had he done so, less issues may have occurred with other guys. Not saying who was right or wrong here, just stating history.
Great post Hatch. I agree that in some cases it's more important to look at stats on a per-minute basis. But let's be honest, fg% and 3pt% speak for itself.
Since you're bringing out stats. The other stat I like to look at is the Player Efficiency Rating (PER). It's not perfect, but it does a great job of placing a statistical value on each player.
Shawn Long 23.76
Bryce Washington 12.18
Kasey Shepherd 9.68
Johnathan Stove 8.62
Jay Wright 8.15
Devonta Walker 7.29
Jay Hedgeman 5.79
Steven Wronkoski 4.91
Hayward Register 3
Tyrone Wooten 2.71
Scott Plaisance 2.11
Tiermone Williams 1.48
Elijah McGuire 0.81
Jacob Broussard 0.5
Matt Marlin 0.44
Is Hedge the worst player on the team? Not by a long shot. But if we ever hope to be the team we all hope to be, we'll need someone better than him at the 3 or 4 spot.
