Thread: Gautier offensive lineman Quave commits to Louisiana

  1. UL Football Gautier offensive lineman Quave commits to Louisiana

Gautier offensive tackle Daniel Quave knew he had a future in college football -- but he spent his senior season wondering where he'd end up.

Sunday, Quave did away with the suspense, verbally committing to sign with Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns had been in contact with Quave since his junior season, but offered a scholarship after Quave's performance in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game in December.

Quave made his decision while on an official visit to UL's campus, after meeting with Ragin' Cajuns coach Rickey Bustle.

We talk about our staff not getting the 3 and 4 star kids but this prospect really appears to be undervalued and overlooked. Our staff has to work harder and kick over a lot of rocks to find good fits for our program. Let's hope we can survive any assaults on our commitments this weekend and pick up some more!

If for some reason he doesn't sign, we'll look back at this article as a sort of rallying cry to other schools from his coach. "Hey guys, if someone else offers this kid, he'll go!!"

Kind of the impression I got...

    But I've been wrong before.

Not the most flatering picture of Mr Quave. None the less, this looks like a good get by our staff.

Don't you just love the continued reference throughout the article as Louisiana Lafayette and UL L and the fact that we are a small time program? I guess the truth hurts, especially when we don't seem to do anything to change it.

HoustonCajuns we are small time, even Boise, TCU, BYU are still considered small time. Until we have the success that those three schools have had we will always be small time no matter what. Our facilities could rival BCS schools and it wouldn't matter at all because we are in the Sunbelt. Hell around here if your not in the SEC your considered a second rate school.

We are what we are, and improving program that will continue to improve slowley but surely. Bustle will get us there, in fact I think we will go bowling for the first time this upcoming year. It looks like OSU will be buying out their home game with the Cajuns and we will replace them with a 1AA school. So our murderous schedule just may have turned into a schedule that we can handle.

I hope this doesn't happen, I've been looking forward to that game for some time!

That is not true. The opponents on UL's 2010 schedule will be unchanged. The Oklahoma State game will remain on the schedule. ESPN has requested to move the game back two weeks to schedule Oklahoma State against another opponent on its network. No final word yet on when that game will be.
