In all fairness, using the term "miffed" is probably the Advertiser's poor choice of words.... trying for clickbait.
Yeah, the article was misleading. It was about mid majors in general who got screwed out of the tournament, particularly in favor of teams from P5 conferences who didn't see to belong. It had nothing to do with the Cajuns or how we under performed this year. That aspect of it has been overblown.
Overblown?? There's no drama queens that would do such here.
A lot of the national talking heads are not happy with the selection committee either. They think several teams got snubbed from mid majors.
Monmouth has been the most discussed since for the last two weeks, most predicted they would be in the tourney regardless of whether they won their conference tourney or not. However, I think St. Bonaventure was the most jobbed of all of them. With an RPI in the 20's, you would think they should get in but the committee seemed to favor wins in the top 50 and a willingness to play tough games on the road OOC which the Bonnies did not really do. Had they beat Syracuse, I think they would have gotten in since they have as many top 50 wins as Kentucky does.
I have no idea on Vandy as I didn't think they should get in.
I was messing with Express for hammering on Marlin just for answering the question. Regardless of our situation, Marlin has the right, if not the obligation, to weigh in on the selection committee's snubbing of highly successful mid majors. The circumstances that are combining at every turn to keep even highly successful mid major programs from gaining post season opportunities is pathetic.
Agreed....what was he suppose to do? No comment? That would have been a field day. Regardless of where the Cajuns finished EVERY mid-major program should have their admin and coaches screaming from the rooftops. That is the only chance we have moving forward to have somethig more equitable.
