Thread: MBB 2016: Hosting CIT

  1. UL Basketball MBB 2016: Hosting CIT

UL — A day after the University of Louisiana men's basketball team returned from the Sun Belt Conference tournament in New Orleans, representatives from three postseason tournaments reached out to gauge the school's interest.

But the Cajuns only had eyes for one.

Coach Bob Marlin said Monday that the Cajuns signed a contract with the CollegeInsider.com tournament before they even left for New Orleans. The Cajuns would have been able to opt out of that contract had they won their conference tournament to earn an NCAA bid.

It's interesting that we turned down the other guys for the CIT. I guess the advantage of another home game and a chance to get a return on your investment with money made through ticket sales, concessions, etc. is better than an automatic 50 grand hit to the wallet to travel.

A sort of testimonial that it must have been a good experience in the past.

Haven't read the Advocate story but I'll admit here I was going to rag on Farmer for not getting us in the Vegas 16. Now that all the big names have declined that tournament and they've had to trim it back to 8, it doesn't look nearly as attractive.

I guess Farmer didn't want to roll the dice.
