Nothing says 'big time program" and "we belong in a better conference" like not showing up to support a team in post season play. I get that expectations were not met but come on. What possible benefit is there to not supporting our university?
"Winning and living up to expectations" also scream "big time program" and "we belong in a better conference"....
No argument there.
Z, if all the teams that some feel don't deserve to go declined there would not be a tournament. I guess many would be OK with that. Texas A&M Corpus Christi is a team that deserves to be in post season play as they had an outstanding record and finished second to one of the top mid majors in the nation in both the regular season and tournament of their league. In the old days they would have been in the NIT. Not an option for that scenario in today's world which is why there are other tournaments. In our case, Shawn wanted to keep playing and you would have to tell him that he would not be given that opportunity if you were on the staff or administration in the event you wanted to decline. That would be hard to do considering all the nos. he has put up. This is a repetitive thread. We will likely NEVER turn down any post season bid under the current situation. If they lose significant money on Wed. night, they may rethink that view in the future. Of course we may have a situation like our opponent on Wed. night in the future. With a better record more may feel the team deserved it and would be more likely to go to the game.
The Southland is the "29th" ranked conference in the country.
