The "best you can get" playing is better than "my pride is hurt" sitting.

Hold that thought, it's a good argument for the next scheduling thread.

Look at the whole field. Yawn...

The NIT is the automatic default for "all you others" who win their regular season but falter in their tournaments...the NCAA dumping ground/excuse to not pick Monmouth and St. Mary's to name a few. What was it...15 this year? Which left 17 slots for the P-5s. Now most P5s are skipping Vegas. What a train wreck.

Sorry, cannot get excited about this match up, but going to go to support the players.

Thank you Mr. Long for not placing your ego ahead of your team mates like some over rated future NBA flop down the road. I've never seen a player flat out quit during a game like that dude did. I know the NBA has set money, but I would not waste a nickle on him if I were a GM. If he quit today, he'll quit tomorrow.

The Islanders (25-7, 15-3 Southland) have a veteran team (eight seniors), strong guards and a potent forward combo in 6-7 Southland defensive player of the year Rashawn Thomas (17 ppg/8 rpg) and 6-7 Bryce Douvier (10 ppg/7 rpg). SR G Hameed Ali (11 ppg/5 apg) and SO G Ehab Amin (9 ppg) are stellar defenders. SR G Brandon Pye (10 ppg) is a one of the nation's top 3-point shooters. They rank among the nation's steals leaders and are the only Southland team to beat three-time defending SLC tournament champion Stephen F. Austin in the last three years ('Jacks are 59-1 vs. conference foes in that span; Islanders beat them last season). I saw them play in-person in the SLC tourney semifinals vs. Sam Houston State. Quality team coached by former Rice HC Willis Wilson. They'll have the guard advantage and Long vs. Thomas will be a good one.

Thanks for the detailed synopsis JP. Teams with strong guard play have eaten our lunch this year. We better show up to play.

Big difference here vs buying a a D1 home game. 50 grand in fact. If costs at least 75 grand to buy a D1 home game while we are only risking 25 for the CIT. Get a little more that 2000 folks on Wednesday we break even. Get 3000, and we make money. Also, you can laugh at playing Texas A&M Corpus Christi but as Josh pointed out, they had an outstanding record this season and have some strong players. I would not be surprised if they are favored on Wednesday.

We should not be buying SLC games usually, we should be playing them with return guarantees. I'm not a fan of a 38 point win vs LOYOLA NOLA. I'd rather play a better team on the road. I get it, we want to give fans games for their season tickets, but it should be competitive games.

IMO this is about building the resume of SBC coaches or they would outlaw such games.

How will it look when there outstanding guards destroy ours and we lose to the runner up from the SLC? We are going backwards as a program.
