Thread: Steamer brought speed to Cajuns softball

  1. UL Softball Steamer brought speed to Cajuns softball

Believe it or not, the UL softball program wasn't always a fixture in NCAA Regional, Super Regional and Women's World Series action.

It seems quite habitual now, but 25 years ago the program was still knocking on the door to join the elite.

I remember watching her play as a freshman. most had never seen anything like it if she got on first, she was on third two pitches later usually.

Keep in mind, this was before the day-glo ball, and the fences at Lamson were at least 20 feet further. I think the whole time I watched the teams play from 87-90, there was only one home run hit at home (Laura Boudreaux, I think), so runs were at a premium.
