Just a few notes from the interview. Coach Hudspeth stated that Sr. Jalen Nixon injured his foot in workouts two weeks ago and could possibly miss up to three weeks of spring football.

Coach Hudspeth also stated he could have someone in place to coach the wide receivers position in the next few weeks, but he will coach the receivers in the meantime. He is looking forward to seeing Mississippi State transfer Shelby Christy, Rfr. Michael Jaquet and Jamarcus Bradley in the mix this spring.

I think he should go after Gunner Leger dad for the receiver's coach. He already looks good in red.

Yes, but I would think we could pay more, plus his son plays for us and I think the wife is from Lafayette. I think those 3 things would entice him.

Plus he is a McNeese guy so maybe he would have an in with local HS coaches.

Leger would be my first pitch. Hud really needs a local guy on his staff. It may be hard for Leger to leave the guy who gave him his opportunity. As a second choice, I would recommend HUD do his best to get Blaine Gauthier on his staff. The kid can recruit the river parish area.

It's hard to say with Leger. He is not a Hudspeth guy and until this year he hasn't played and coached nowhere else other then McNeese. His loyalty has been to one program and one coach, so I'm not certain if he is someone Coach Hudspeth would bring into his inner circle. Also understand this, he recruited the river parishes well, but he wasn't recruiting against C-USA, SBC, AAC,
Big12, Pac 12 and MWC programs. We have to improve our recruiting, that was probably the most important reason to bring in Joe Simon.
